“Remote” Bricking

Hey! Would be super cool to “remotely” brick my phone. In a case that I left the house without bricking, I could open the app and brick it, then not be able to unbrick till I get back to the device.

If you hold down the Brick icon in the app for 5 seconds you can brick without the device!

Ability to brick without a brick

Andrew Hartman
Use case: I’m on vacation and left my brick at home. I needed to unbrick to access an app temporarily, so I had to use one of my 5 emergency unbricks. I’d love some type of temporary unbrick option. I also couldn’t brick again remotely, so I was unbricked all vacation which was not ideal.
Ideas:
Once a day I can unbrick for 1 minute
2 minute waiting period once an unbrick is requested
Ability to brick without the device within 5 minutes of emergency unbricking.

If you hold down the Brick icon in the app for 5 seconds, you can Brick without the device! We appreciate the feedback on a 'break' during the day

Reynold Hamar Amazing! This is super helpful.

I think being able to brick without a brick would be pretty useful, as it makes bricking more easy, but you would still need the physical brick to unbrick. Makes it easier to brick when you need. Disagree with the remote unbrick.

This solution seems counter to the design of the app. I think the suggestion would be to bring it to your hotel and leave it in a drawer or the safe, or only unbrick when you're leaving the resort for the day.

Additional thoughts here:
It’s a super power to leave the brick at home during the day. Makes me SO MUCH more present. That said I’ve already used 3 emergency unbricks since I didn’t have the brick on me. The 1 minute unbrick remotely a day would solve this problem to allow me to get quick access to whatever I need, not require an emergency unbrick, and allow me to stay present.

Allow Brick Status Without Proximity

This would allow the user to brick themselves via solely the app, but need to scan the brick in order to unbrick themselves.

Oh shoot, sweet!! Y’all should make that more evident within the app, and in an future update there should be a dedicated button to do this. But thank you for letting me know!

Justus Mitchell I agree. This is a great value. If I have a “sober” moment where I know I need to brick, having this option is huge. I would suggest making this much more obvious as part of onboarding.
P.S. Brick has fundamentally changed my phone use. If you need a testimonial video, hit me up.
